Just like every other day on the Kohn family Israel trip, today was fun and exciting! Everyone woke up a little bit earlier (around 9:30) and Yehuda and I set out by ourselves to do some Shabbat shopping. Sarah's list in hand, we first headed to Supersol (and I still cannot understand those carts with wheels that move in all four directions...) and then to buy meat at Sarah's butcher. For years coming to Israel I have never bought meat because I have never actually understood how...yes, that's correct! After locating Sarah's butcher (which took 3 days), I could not believe how civilized the experience was. They take out a huge piece of meat from the freezer attached to a large hook and ask you which part you would like. Totally different experience from the pre-packaged roasts in Glatt Express...I may become a vegetarian now, but it was definitely an experience.
Next we got into our bathing suits to head for the beach for a last swim before the nine days but decided against it because of the jellyfish (aka meduzot in Israel). Instead, Sarah recommended the Raanana Iriya Pool, which was fantastic. Its a whole complex of pools, some indoor and some outdoor but covered and there was even a really cool playground. It was fabulous and the kids spent hours in the pool. Leora even looked cute in her mandatory bathing cap!
After, we stopped at the supermarket and bought chicken nuggets and french fries for the kids, showered them (and us) and headed out for a night out alone.
Yehuda and I went to the Herziliya Marina, which is gorgeous at night, and ate at Bistro 56 (thanks to Sarah and James's recommendation). The food was delicious, the views spectacular and the company amazing!
