After a lazy morning hanging out with the Raanans, we started out by going to Latrun, an all-time favorite spot of my boys. We brought Yoav with us and he asked in the car if we had ever done "GeoCaching" before. We found out that there was actually something hidden at Latrun in the lone tank in the parking lot. Eagerly, the kids jumped out of the car, determined to find it...and they did!! They were so excited!
Our annual visit to Latrun (Yad L'Shiriyon) was the best ever. We had an English speaking guide who showed us things that we had beer even noticed before, such as the emotional "tower of tears" which was quite moving. Our guide asked us where we were from and we told him that we were from Teaneck, NJ. He said that he had been there but had never heard of our street. He had only heard of Churchill and Winthrop!!! What are the odds?!
After we finished, we went to the mall in Modiin for a delicious lunch of...pizza, of course!
Next we headed to Moshav Mevo Modiin, home of Shlomo Carelbach. We went to the Chai Farm there where the kids got to milk a goat, feed the tortoise, spin wool, create clay wall hangings, make batik artwork, and go on a tour of the moshav, including the ancient Maccabean ruins. After the activities and the tour, the kids had a blast playing on the moshav playground.
10 hours later, we returned home....exhausted. Thankfully Sarah had a delicious dinner prepared. Yum, yum!!
What a great day!
