This morning, we finished up last minute packing to get Leora and Zachary ready for camp and for us to leave Raanana and head to Jerusalem.
After a lunch of Tic Tac Toe Pizza and Falafel (and Joshua buying two shekel lollipops for everyone-in Hebrew), we headed for the buses, not sure what to expect. Yehuda gave the kids their Shabbat brachot (x2) and we were off!
Well, the complete opposite of what we expected happened...Zachary jumped onto the bus and never looked back and Leora almost had a panic attack in the car. Well, they both got on the bus and we waved them off. It's hard to say that I'm not actually jealous of the experiences and fun that my kids are going to have over the next two weeks.
After dropping the kids off, we returned to Sarah's house to pack up the car and say goodbye. We are so thankful to our dear friends, the Raanans, for hosting us. They are truly some of he best friends that anyone could ever ask for. We had a blast with them and look forward to seeing them soon!
We arrived in Jerusalem just as Gila was leaving with the kids to go to the old city. We unloaded the car, got settled, wrote letters to the kids and headed to Emek Refaim for a yummy dinner at Waffle Bar. We even got to see Morah Tanya on the street! We mailed our letters and then walked up and down the old railroad tracks and took in the amazing Jerusalem night air. The breeze and the cool air were unbelievably refreshing. The boys didn't want to go back so we just walked and walked and walked and walked. Really amazing, but weird not to have Leora and Zachary with us. First Leora called hysterically crying but we know that she is going to be ok and have the time of her life. Then Zachary called and wasn't quite as hysterical. It's just hard to get those calls as a Mommy...
Now the kids are showered and in bed and I'm sitting with Yehuda on the deck enjoying the beautiful Jerusalem night air...
Yehuda may be working, but I'm enjoying every minute.
PS Here's a special "shout out" to Stacy on her birthday today. We hope it was a great one!
