Benjamin and I started out our morning with a walk to the supermarket to buy more things for breakfast. It was so nice to spend alone time and Benjamin enjoying schlepping the bags home. He thought that walking to the supermarket was "crazy!", yet another "only in Israel" experience.
Next we went to Better Place Electric Car in Tel Aviv. The kids enjoyed the tour, the movie and the hot chocolate machine. I think that may have been the highlight for them. We enjoyed driving the cars and found the concept quite cool. The kids loves the iPads everywhere!
Next, Elinoa joined us as we headed up north to Zichron Yaakov. The gorgeous views never disappoint. We started out at The First Aliya Museum which explained the Jews that came in 1882. It was really interesting and we all enjoyed it very much. It really put everything into perspective for us by helping us to see what life was really like for the first pioneers and how we are reaping the benefits of their fierce determination and hard work today.
Next we continued to Derech HaYayin, a closed off pedestrian mall filled with shops and restaurants. We tried to go to the Aaronson Museum and old shul but unfortunately both were closed. We stopped at a nice cafe for a great Israeli meal. The food was great and the portions immense. Zachary especially loved his shakshouka. After we finished and all had full tummies, we decided to see if there were any more Geo Caches in the the area. There were two listed in the Zichron Yaakov area and the Kohns were determined to find both...and we did!!! How cool?! We also can't forget to mention Yehuda skyping with Eric walking through the streets of Zichron. Isn't technology great? On our way down the mountain we tried to stop at Ramat Ha-Nadiv, the burial place of Baron de Rothschild and his wife, but alas, that was closed too!
Once again, on the way back to Raanana the sunset was gorgeous and the kids were exhausted! Off to showers and bed...
